Trunk Bay, St. John

As one of the more popular beaches on St. John, Trunk Bay is also considered one of the most beautiful. Plus, it provides modern amenities without overshadowing its natural surroundings. Our readers raved about the snorkeling and soft sand.

Reader repleo said, "My favorite is Trunk Bay, St John, Virgin Islands. It has beautiful white sand, clear aqua warm water, spectacular views across the water to BVI with [a] small rocky islet in the foreground, snorkeling trail from the beach, comprehensive facilities hidden from the beach, no buildings visible from beach, [and] natural tree shade. The sand is soft but firm enough for walking on. Beach is long enough to be able to find a secluded area even if the cruise ships are in. Heaven on earth."

Reader barnesfest added, "I love Trunk Bay in St. John. Powdery white sand, aqua blue water—and less crowded than other top beaches. Try to make it on a day when there is no cruise ship traffic in from St. Thomas."
