Oregon: Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach, Oregon

Oregon isn't typically thought of as a beach vacation spot, but according to our readers, it's time to think again. Cannon Beach offers four miles of soft sand ideal for strolling, shelling, or sitting by a fire. Haystack Rock, the beach's famous landmark, towers in the distance and provides a unique landscape.

Reader shanna58 said, "The magic of the Oregon coast is often missed because it doesn't fit the blue water/white sand stereotype. But drive the coast and end up at Cannon Beach, [and] I think you will have a great experience!"

Reader Gayle Löve Swanson added, "The whole Oregon coast is full of beaches and all are public access. The water is COLD, though, so not much swimming. They're great for gathering driftwood and shells and sea-glass, [especially] after storms. The beaches at Seaside and Cannon Beach are long and make for great beach walks, and bonfires complete with s'mores!"
