Slovakia: Levoca

Levoca, Slovakia

Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, Levoca has been and still remains an important pilgrimage point in Slovakia, with its neo-Gothic church, Marianska Hora, as the guiding beacon. Settled in the New Stone Age, this medieval town has undergone a historic renovation, and its Renaissance architecture and ancient monuments have been preserved, including St. James's Church, the Town Hall, the Cage of Shame, the Trade House, the Town Theater, and the Large Provincial House.
