The Deal Detective is SmarterTravel.com's resident bargain hunter, Kate Hamman. She's always on the lookout for new travel deals and invites you, dear reader, to submit your own questions.

It's that time again, when I set forth and scour the Internet to bring you the cheapest of the cheap vacation deals available. This week, they include popular destinations like Las Vegas, Orlando, New York, and the Caribbean.

Top Five Vacation Deals

If your family is in need of a vacation, JetBlue may have the answer. The airline's vacation wing is offering packages to Walt Disney World resorts starting at $545 (without taxes and fees) per person. The deal includes four nights at the Disney's All-Star Music Resort (other resorts available at a higher cost), round-trip airfare from New York City (other departure cities available at a higher cost), a four-day Magic Your Way base ticket, and Free Dining Plan. Book by July 26 for travel between August 16 and October 3.

Expedia makes it oh-so-affordable to visit the Big Apple in style this summer, with up to 35 percent off three-night or longer packages available all over the city. Deals start at just $381 (without taxes and fees) for a four-night stay at the Hotel Alexander, including round-trip airfare from Chicago (other departure cities are available at a higher cost). The hotel without airfare starts at about $97 per night. Book by July 19 and travel before July 30.

United Vacations is offering a Las Vegas Sale starting at just $224 (without taxes and fees) per person for a three-night's stay at the Monte Carlo (other hotels are available for a higher cost) and round-trip airfare from Los Angeles (other departure cities are available for a higher cost). Travel is valid for Sunday and Monday departures from July 12 through August 31. Book by July 31.

CheapCaribbean.com provides vacation packages to tropical locales all over the world, but the deals to the Caribbean right now are particularly appealing. For instance, a trip to the Bahamas starts at only $369 (without taxes and fees) per person (regularly starts at $739), and includes a three-nights' stay at Our Lucaya Reef Village Resort, round-trip airfare, $100 coupon if it rains, and weather insurance. Book by July 10 for travel between September 1 and December 19. Summer packages are available for $20 more for travel through August 31.

For those with a spontaneous nature, Funjet Vacations is offering up to 60 percent off last-minute vacation packages to destinations in the U.S., Caribbean, and Mexico. For instance, a two-night package in Las Vegas starts at about $159 (without taxes and fees) and includes accommodations at the Luxor and round-trip airfare from Los Angeles. Travel is valid for Sunday and Monday departures from July 13 through the 27.

I'm looking for some fun and economical activities to do with kids (ages 3 and 7) in the Berkshires. Any suggestions? Also maybe some interesting lodging ideas. Thanks!

One of the best places I have discovered in my travels for great travel deals is LowFares.com because they do side-by-side comparisons from the various discount travel sites so I can find the lowest prices on air, hotel, and car rentals quick plus they update me when great travel deals pop up.

My husband and I want to take our one-year-old on a non-beach vacation. We all have our passports. We'd like to stay under $1000 for the trip. Last-minute is fine with us this summer! We are in Western KY and would be flying out of BNA (Nashville, TN) or STL (St. Louis, MO). Thanks for any help!
