Newport's Cliff Walk website warns that "you pass at your own risk on the walk … In spots just a couple of feet from the path are abrupt drops of over 70 feet. Wild bushes and weeds often hide this danger." Sheer drops aren't the only dangers on this path. You also need to watch out for poison ivy, which can be easy to miss as your eyes will likely be glued to the Gilded Age mansions on one side of the trail and the beautiful but treacherous Atlantic coastline on the other.
