At EuroCheapo, we have a thing about European budget hotels. For the past 11 years, we've been inspecting and reviewing inexpensive hotels from Amsterdam to Venice, trying to find the best deals. Along the way, we've come across some real gems. 

Selecting 10 favorites from the 1,200 hotels currently reviewed on EuroCheapo is no easy task. Our favorites, after all, might not be your favorites. We prefer small, family-run properties with personality—they're more fun to write about. Others prefer no-nonsense and cheap, while others choose "budget boutiques."

Here are 10 budget hotels, in 10 popular destinations, that year after year remain favorites of ours and are among the most popular on the site. As most of them offer rooms for less than €75 (about $98) per night, we think that they all provide an exceptional value.
