You certainly traveled well in 2012! By the time the New Year's Eve ball dropped, readers submitted over 17,000 photos to Your Best Travel Photos of 2012 Contest, sharing the fantastic trips you took to all corners of the globe. While choosing the winners was a difficult task, we thoroughly enjoyed looking through all your vacation pics and feel inspired to travel in 2013. We hope you all do too.

Congratulations to Anovitske, our grand-prize winner who will receive round-trip airfare for two (value up to $2,500) from Vayama, for this once-in-a-lifetime shot of a monkey trying to blend in with a group of statues in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Here's what Anovitske says about the photo:

"I spent a rainy day at a Hindu temple in Katmandu. Devotees bring offerings to leave with statues representing their favorite deities. But, the offerings of candies and fruit also attract troops of monkeys. The mischief-makers, like this monkey spying among the statues, swoop on unsuspecting worshippers to snag sweets."
