Double Club Carlson Points for Caribbean Stays
Carlson had a particularly solid run of generous promotions in 2013, sparking hopes that the company was serious about recognizing and rewarding loyalty. Those hopes were undermined, however, by two separate devaluations: one cutting the transfer rate of points to airline miles; the other, more recently, raising the price of many awards and reducing the program's elite bonuses.
So far this year, Club Carlson's record has been mixed. Its first-quarter offer -- a free night after three paid nights -- was a winner. But since then, it's only offered double or triple points, and only for stays in Asia.
The latest promotion is even more geographically limited, and even less generous.
Between now and September 30, Club Carlson members can earn double points for qualifying stays at Radisson hotels in the Caribbean.
To receive the bonus, cite promotion code CARDBL when booking.
Deal or No Deal
Double points beats the alternative. But not by much.
And what the promotion's headline fails to mention is that there are only five Radisson properties in the Caribbean.
If Carlson wants to be a contender in the battle for the hearts and minds of travelers, it has to do better, and do it consistently.
