Best Western Offers Bonus for South America Stays

Looking to earn outsized hotel loyalty program rewards for a trip to South America this summer?

This new promotion from Best Western probably isn't what you had in mind.

Offers Details

Between July 1 and August 31, Best Western Rewards members can earn 1,000 bonus points for every two stays at separate Best Western hotels in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela).

Registration is required.

Deal or No Deal

In Best Western's program, members normally earn 10 points per $1 spent on hotel stays. To put the bonus in perspective, let's assume that you qualify for this offer with two separate one-night stays, each costing $100. So you'd earn 2,000 points for spending $200. The 1,000 extra points from this offer amount to a 50 percent bonus.

That's hardly a compelling bonus. And in percentage terms, it gets even less compelling for longer, more expensive qualifying stays.

Among the many bonuses for summer hotel stays, this is among the least attractive. In fact, Best Western itself has a far superior offer in place: a free night voucher after three stays between June 17 and August 19.

Reader Reality Check

Is this offer a "Si!" or a "See ya' later"?
