Very nice hotel. Quiet. Great location in the Arts District. Very good restaurant, good menu, nice staff. I highly recommend.
beautiful art, unusual decor...rooms are a bit small, and amenities in rooms are less than expected for the price
Liked the modern lobby and the room decor. The room was nicely furnished. Comfortable bed is a big plus also. Did not like: a bit noisy (thin walls between rooms).
The rooms are attractive, spacious, and clean. A filled bar/night club is located on the first floor and a well-kept gym (complete with towels, a water cooler, and headphones) is located on an upper floor. Although the facility itself is nice, the staff, who seem to believe in service without a smile, dampens the experience of the hotel. Despite being a generous tipper to the valet (parking, by the way, is by valet only and is at an additional charge) and bellhop, the staff seemed to treat me, and other guests, in an unwelcoming fashioned. Don't get me wrong: the staff was not rude but just unwelcoming. When I walked in and said hello to the front desk clerk, instead of greeting me back she simply asked if I would like to check in. When I asked the bellhop if he knew any local clubs I should check out, he simply said 'I don't know'. He didn't mention the club on the premises or refer me to anyone else (even when I asked him if he knew anyone else) who could recommend a club. It was just as if I was being processed through my stay but was not really welcomed and when I don't feel welcomed, I don't come back. I will never stay at a Renaissance hotel again and, after this stay, I stopped staying at Marriotts completely which is a shame since I was a gold card member on the verge of becoming platinum.
