After the Cruise

Can I get a refund if I don't like some aspect of my cruise? If so, how?

Refunds are rare, but most cruise lines will work with passengers if there is any problem. If you are dissatisfied with any portion of your cruise, you need to go the purser's desk and document your problem.

Incidentally, one cruise line, Carnival, offers a money-back guarantee called its Vacation Guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your cruise experience, all you need to do is notify Carnival's purser before arrival at the first port-of-call, and you may disembark (at the first non-U.S. port-of-call). Carnival will refund the unused portion of your cruise fare and pay for your flight back.

Are there cruise loyalty programs?
Yes, cruise lines have individual loyalty programs that offer special discounts and other incentives to those who have been on previous cruises. As a member of the club, you may receive privileges such as cabin upgrades and admittance into exclusive onboard events. Some programs even allow you to earn loyalty credits that can later be redeemed for future travel. For more information on cruise loyalty programs, visit SmarterTravel.com's cruise profiles.
