Travelocity launches RoadTrip Wizard

The open road is calling your name, but it can be daunting to plan the perfect trip with a country full of options. However, don’t give up before the car is even out of the garage. With the beta launch of its RoadTrip Wizard, Travelocity is here to help. Now you can plan nearly every detail of your trip, including booking and mapping in one place.

It’s easy to create a trip that fits your needs, from romantic to kid-friendly. You start by personalizing your choice of traveling companions, energy levels, distance traveled per day, hotel prices, types of food stops, and what time of year you’ll be traveling. The Wizard then tallies these facts to create options of places to stop and see along the way. You can then add your picks to your trip and the Wizard will create a step-by-step itinerary. You can also search Travelocity’s Local Secrets, Big Finds for roadside attractions and insider’s tips.

As an avid road tripper, I’ve waited years for a tool like this to come along. And, although it’s still in beta and may not be up to its full capacity just yet, the potential for greatness is apparent.
