Southwest upgrades Ding

Low-fare king Southwest has announced improvements to its ever-popular Ding fare-alert system. In case you’re not familiar with it, Ding is a downloadable program that alerts users to daily or twice-daily Southwest specials that the airline claims are less than its lowest “Internet Special” prices. Last year, [% 13918 | | I analyzed %] Ding prices on a handful of routes, and found savings as little as $5 and as much as $75.

This latest improvement allows users to receive customized sales for up to 10 airports. The addition of specific airports is a welcome improvement to Ding, which currently alerts you about every special, even if your preferred city (or cities) isn’t included.

To update your Ding account, click on “Update Registration” after clicking on the Ding icon in your system tray. To download Ding, visit southwest.com.
