New NASA space ride just in time for summer

Yeah, yeah, Disney’s been running space-themed rides for years. But doesn’t the Kennedy Space Center doing it have way more credibility?

The new Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Launch Experience, a ride that real astronauts helped design (and this is them doing what they know, not like when they re-designed ice cream), takes visitors through the pre-launch briefing, into the crew pod for launch strap-in, and finally through the blast off into space. Well, fake space at least, but with simulated views of Earth from above.

The attraction opens at NASA’s Visitor Complex at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on May 25. Just in time for summer, this sounds like a great way to be crowned best-parent-ever by the aspiring astronauts in your life. Or, if you’re the aspiring astronaut, this could be an ideal way to live the dream without having to quit your day job.
