Find Hot Deals in Vancouver Pre- and Post-Olympics

During the Olympics, the spotlight on Vancouver, Whistler, and other Games destinations will be hot enough to melt snow. But before February 12 and after February 28, visitors can take advantage of the many infrastructure improvements, new hotels, and spruced-up attractions all while scoring gold-medal value.

So what can you expect to find if you visit Vancouver or surrounding British Columbia before or after the Games? Snow, for one thing. Heavy snowfall allowed Whistler Blackcomb to open early this year, and discounted stay-and-ski packages are available before and after the Olympics, with rates starting at $452 CAD (about $426 USD, see XE.com for current rates) per person for five-night, four-day accommodations and lift ticket packages.

Before and after the Olympics, the Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre has a Play Your Own Games package that includes three nights in a suite, daily breakfast, lift tickets, dog sledding, Ziptrek tour, and dining credits for $1,699 CAD for two people.

Before the Olympics, a number of Vancouver hotels are offering the third night free. There are also discounted rooms around the city, and a free room upgrade program when you book with your Visa card.

These aren’t the only deals. If Vancouver is on your list this winter or spring, keep an eye out for discounts, added-value packages, and sales offered by hotels trying to maintain that Olympic momentum.
