Daily Daydream: Mediterranean’s Party Isle

Ibiza has gained a bad reputation as a party island, but it has so much more to offer than house beats and alcohol. The warm weather island is popular in the winter with sun seekers. Follow the crowds and stake out a spot on one of the island’s many white sand beaches, like Ses Figueretes or Playa d’en Bossa. The scenery alone should be enough to convince you to visit—Ibiza’s beautiful beaches and bays are overlooked by cliffs and fig and olive orchards.

Once you’ve had your fill of sunbathing, check out the Gothic Ibiza Cathedral and the well-stocked Archaeology Museum. Leave time for stops at the island’s two national parks.

If you do want to taste the party scene, come during May through July for the “opening parties” and September through October for the “closing parties.” Both sessions feature mega-club sponsored bashes to mark the beginning and end of the peak holiday season.

Where is it? In the Mediterranean Sea. Fly to Es Codolar International Airport (check prices).

Where to Stay? At the Hotel Gran Sol Ibiza, which was voted number three in TripAdvisor’s top budget hotels in Spain list.

What Else Should I Know? Behave yourself—you can get deported for drunk and disorderly conduct!

Who’s it For? Partiers, winter vacationers in search of sun.
