Daily Daydream: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Go swimming in the sky at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore. This giant hotel/casino complex is capped by an unparallelled infinity pool in which swimmers can do laps high in the sky. More than 650 feet above ground, swimmers splash around in a swimming pool that's over 490 feet long, and appears to drop off into the abyss. (The infinity pool is just an illusion—the water drains into a platform that's only a few feet below.)

You'll have to be a guest to swim in the pool, although you can sometimes snag sale rates at the pricey hotel for just over $300 per night. Tourists can go all the way up to the 57th floor and tour the SkyPark, which features panoramic city views. The public observation deck costs $20 for non-guests and doesn't include access to the pool or the roof-top gardens.

The opulent property not only has a casino, hotel, shops, and restaurants, but also its very own museum. The ArtScience Museum hosts many interesting traveling exhibits and costs $15 for admission.

Where is it? Along Marina Bay in Singapore. The closest international airport is Changi (check prices), and hotel guests can take a free airport shuttle to the resort.

Where to stay? Get a taste of the good life by booking the Chairman Suite on the 53rd and 54th floors of the Marina Bay Sands. The 629-square-meter suite has three balconies, two living rooms, four bedrooms, jacuzzi tubs, walk-in closets, a study, a private exercise room (with steam and sauna and massage area), a round-the-clock dedicated butler team, baby grand piano, media room, and access to the hotel's private club.

What else should I know? If you want to visit the casino, you'll need to bring your passport to prove that you are not a Singaporean or permanent resident in order to avoid paying an entry fee.

Who's it for? Swimmers, the one percent, gamblers, James Bond.
