Instagrammers, you submitted more than 1,000 photos to our #STselfie contest, and what great selfies they were! We saw your happy, globe-trotting faces in destinations all over the world, from the Palace of Versailles to Punalu'u Beach to the Ponte Vecchio.
Selecting a winner was tough, but we were lucky enough to have veteran travel reporter and avid iPhoneographer Laura Bly on hand to pick the best travel selfie of the bunch.
Many congratulations to our winner, @hbcarlo!
Bly says, "All 10 finalists are terrific examples of selfies whose sense of place is as strong as the photographers' own presence, but my top pick goes to Carlo Navarro for what he describes on Instagram as an 'amazing balloon ride' with Napa Valley Balloons. Taken from the balloon's gondola with a tripod, the shot is simply glorious—and gives viewers a bird's-eye view of the action."
Our second runner-up is this submission from @abbijayne, who Bly says "brings an infectious joy to her group shot of a mud-caked clan at Nevada's Black Rock Desert Hot Springs."
And rounding out the top three is @rich_lemonie's submission. Bly was "mesmerized by Rich Lemonie's evocative, reflective portrait at New York's National September 11 Memorial & Museum."
Take a spin through the rest of our top 10 below!
And a big thank you to Magellan's Travel, Olloclip, and Laura Bly for their help with this contest.
