JetBlue to announce new routes Friday

Facing another year of potential losses following its surprising fourth-quarter showing in 2005, low-cost carrier JetBlue is turning its attention to new revenue sources and less competitive routes where it can charge more for flights. The airline is expected to announce two of those routes tomorrow.

This is part of JetBlue’s previously announced expansion—it claims it will add 10 new cities in 2006. The airline has already said it will add seven new gates at New York’s JFK airport, bringing its total to 21. Delta recently announced it too is strengthening its focus on JFK by making it a new hub.

I’ll check in tomorrow and let you know which cities are being added to JetBlue’s route map.
