Two new kinds of weddings at sea

What could possibly be more festive than a wedding? Perhaps a wedding at sea. Destination nuptials seem to be all the rage with the cruise lines, and Regent Seven Seas and Norwegian have embraced the trend, albeit in very different ways.

[% 9668 | | Regent Seven Seas %] has taken the traditional route and set up a program to help guests exchange or renew vows during a port call. The Regent Travel Concierge team will match cruisers with a consultant from Royal Ocean Events, who can arrange for an officiant, marriage certificate, wedding cake, and Champagne. In addition, the consultant will help the couple choose the perfect romantic location and arrange a unique celebration.

Ever the innovator, [% 12025 | | Norwegian %] has introduced a fake wedding onboard—specifically the off-Broadway show, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding. The show is an interactive experience, and the spectators become guests at an Italian wedding, mingling, eating, and dancing with the cast members. This special event is only available on Hawaii cruises when the ships are docked in Maui for the evening. Cruisers can buy tickets through the shore excursion desk for $24.95, but tickets are limited to 250 to 350 per performance.
